Emergency electrical dispatch

Consumer unit faults and repeated tripping

A tripping board does not automatically need replacing. Describe the symptoms so the affected circuits, equipment and protective devices can be assessed.

If there is smoke, fire, electric shock risk, exposed live wiring or water near electrics, move away from the hazard and call emergency services first.

What symptoms need attention?

Repeated trips, buzzing, a burning smell, heat or visible damage should not be ignored. Keep away from a board affected by water or damage. Do not remove its cover, tighten connections or bypass a protective device. If there is immediate danger, move away and call emergency services.

Investigate before replacing

The cause may be elsewhere in a circuit or connected equipment. Tell us what loses power, what was running and whether the fault follows rain or recent work. An electrician assesses the installation and explains the work proposed. Making a fault safe may involve leaving a circuit off until a separately agreed repair is possible.

Read about RCD trips, breaker trips and fault finding. Replacement should follow an assessment, not a remote guess.

If replacement is appropriate

Our replacement service explains checks, shutdown and handover. The separate cost guide explains quote factors. The call-out is £50 plus VAT (£60 total), with further work quoted before starting. Send your board-fault enquiry.
